Pilothouse
integration can be defined in three degrees, 1) electrical integration, 2)
software integration and 3) mechanical integration (system packaging).
Many
electronic manufactures are offering black boxes with software integration and
incorporating it into a cookie cutter console cabinet. But when it comes to true
integration you need a company that can take any off the shelve piece of
electronics, (any manufacture) and package it into a system that makes sense.
This
is the difference between RCS Engineering.
RCS
Engineering is not new to the bridge integrated system community. We have been
pioneering integrated console systems for the past 20 years.
In 1986 RCS introduced
integrated system technology and packaging technology at the Miami International
Boat Show.
What
makes us unique or different between other companies is that we do not confine
our self to a particular line of equipment manufactures. We feel that the
consumer should have the option of picking and choosing which type of
electronics he/she would like to integrate.
Every
owner and every captain has their own personality and their wants in what they
would like to see in an integrated bridge system, from equipment to controls to
layout.
RCS Engineering has a
very unique way of designing pilothouse console systems. Our primary features
consist of a system that is
modular, updateable (mechanical and electrical) and serviceable. With our unique
mounting features we can convert any off the shelve piece of equipment into a
custom flush mount, front installed module. This lets us put High
Tech Aircraft Cockpit Styling into our systems
As
we know, for years manufactures have packaged equipment between them selves and
other electronic manufactures in different packaging configurations.
RCS
Engineering creates custom modules concealing the manufactures equipment and
keeps display faces flush with the panel surface incorporating continuity among
all equipment, this also allows all modules to be front panel installed which
make it user friendly for updating and service.
RCS
Engineering has created unique facias which are installed over the equipment,
these facias can be constructed from materials such as aluminum, solid surface
or fine wood veneers. Facias can be removed and updated as new equipment is
installed or any time you want a decorative change.
By
creating front flush mounted modules this gives you the assurance that each
piece of equipment is well secured and can be serviced and updated without an
extensive and expensive retrofitting and without crawling around under the
console to gain access to the equipment.
Our consoles feature an
updated program for the life of the vessel.
Our systems can be up dated any place in the world. Just contact us with
details of new equipment and we will design a new replacement module which will
install into your present system.
The RCS systems are
manufactured and pre-assembled on our shop floor and delivered to your vessel
in a kit package .
Our console systems are
modular and can be install after the pilothouse has been constructed.
The key features in
our system is that it is modular, updateable and serviceable, this is based
around three major principals. equipment modules, which are front and flush
mounted, unique mounting plates and facias and pull out trays for processor
equipment eliminating the need to crawl under the console for service.
RCS develops full 3D wire
frame models of the pilothouse prior to console design, we then develop the full 3D
solid model of the console with in the wire frame model.
This
allows us to make sure that all consoles are designed and properly fitted within
the pilothouse parameters along with the positioning and layout of all the
electronics and controls to make sure that they have been placed ergonomically
so that the important systems which are regularly operated are with in reach of
the of the pilots chair.
Other manufactures design
there systems around their own product lines, this does not allow the consumer
the flexibility that they would like.
After reviewing
many Integrated Bridge System articles that are published each month one
major item keeps getting my attention. The manufacture keep talking about how
the user is free to specify their favorite electronic charting and navigation
software.
Is this what pilothouse
integration is all about,
I
do not think so.. Without the ergonomic packaging of a user friendly system you
have nothing but a bunch of computers.
RCS takes all of the marine
technology hardware and designs it into a system that makes sense, something
that is usable functional,
efficient, and attractive.
RCS is the choose for your
Marine Pilothouse Control System Packaging needs.
